Citizen science activities empower farmers and rural communities to observe and protect nature, turning observation into action and strengthening their role as stewards of the land.
Observatory
The FRAMEwork project supports 11 Farmer Clusters across Europe to monitor biodiversity jointly across their farms in partnership with researchers and local communities and to implement biodiversity-friendly farming at a landscape scale. This iNaturalist project brings together local activities and collected data of the different Farmer Clusters.

Resources
Recodo hosts a selection of useful resources for biodiversity citizen science, including simple monitoring protocols, how to identify different animal and plant species and information about how to set up and run activities.

Many Farmer Clusters run citizen science activities, with farmers and with local communities. Check out some of the stories and get inspired!
Get involved
These projects make it easy for farmers and rural communities to get involved in biodiversity monitoring—whether by counting birds, observing insects, or working with local schools and scientists. They’re practical, inspiring, and help connect farming with nature for a more sustainable future. They also support learning about nature on the farm, contribute to science, and often align with agri-environmental goals:
